service brake pad monitor

I own a 24 Colorado with almost 20k miles and i got an alert about a problem with the cable of the brake pad monitor. Went to the dealer and i got the "its fine" talk. Apparently its a design problem and we should wait for chevy to fix it and we'll be good to do. I'm no mechanic but this sounds like bull... Anyone care to explain this to me like I'm 5?

ust sharing that I ran into the same trouble .. dealer found bad sensor and some calipers were stuck. they said they can repair it But no parts! Crazy i know
